C3PO Lab MMM Fundraiser

March Mammal Madness is in full swing and our lab is excited to watch the competition unfold!

This year we will be holding a raffle, where a few lucky individuals holding the highest scoring brackets will win an awesome prize! To participate in the raffle, you can download the bracket (below) and fill it in with what animal you think is going to win each virtual battle – all the way to the Championship round! Donations are greatly encouraged (but not required) and will be used to support our lab’s research and undergraduate’s experiences – including support to attend the annual Comparative Cognition Conference! What is MMM? How do I play?

Think of the NCAA College Basketball March Madness Championship Tournament, but with animals! March Mammal Madness is an annual tournament of *simulated* combat competition among animals. Scientific research is used to substantiate likely outcomes as a probabilistic function of the two species’ attributes within the battle environment. The MMM team consider the animal’s temperament, weaponry, armor, body mass, running speed, fight style, physiology, and motivation to calculate battle outcomes. But don’t think a humble butterfly can’t win in a fight, there are plenty of “upsets” to keep you on your toes!
